People Function Skills

As a manager or leader a vast proportion of your workload will revolve around communication and problem solving with many of the issues arising from personnel management.

Knowing how to handle these issues, both as and individual and also within the legal framework is essential to the success of the team and the organisation. These programmes have been specifically designed to work from the basis of that legal framework to ensure that the manager develops the knowledge, skills and techniques with which to handle these potentially confrontational situations.

The series of workshops takes the delegate through from the basics of communication skills to understanding the importance of selecting the right person for the job to valuing diversity and appraising performance.

Communication Skills

This course is designed to allow delegates to understand the importance of how correct/incorrect use of their communications skills can influence both situations and people in positive and negative terms. Focusing on the importance of their use of words, tone of voice and non-verbal impact, the course allows delegates to become more sensitive to the communication skills they currently possess and allows them to understand how to maximise such skills both at home and at work.

Problem Solving Skills

The problem Solving Skills workshop will help participants to learn recognised skills that can be used in situations where you want to make changes, allow you to evaluate existing situations and how you would like them to be. This workshop will familiarise participants with the process of breaking down the process of a problem in order to understand it and solve it, prevent it or assess how to deal with it.

Recruitment & Selection

This course is designed to allow delegates to understand and acquire the skills to successfully implement and effective recruitment and selection process. The course guides delegates through the whole recruitment process ensuring adherence to relevant employment legislation at each point culminating in the actual recruitment interview and the selection of the “best person for the job”.

Diversity Advantage

Many projects involve complex multi-national elements, from projects that are executed in a foreign country to project teams or stakeholders that are made of different nationalities, cultures and religions. This in itself brings new challenges as it often requires different cultures to co-exist within a project. This workshop has been designed to turn these potential barriers into opportunities and covers a range of topics aimed at all personnel who have any input or dealings with projects with a multi-national element. It provides practical tools and techniques for creating a diversity advantage.

Appraisal Skills

This course is designed to introduce delegates to the field of Performance, appraisal and to provide the opportunity to practice a range of appraisal skills in a safe and supportive environment. It enables delegates to understand what appraisal is and allows them to function within their own company’s appraisal system. All aspects of the subject are considered in terms of planning and conducting appraisals as well as how to use documentation. An opening session will allow delegates to consider why they should have an appraisal system In the first place
