APM Certificated Project Manager (IPMA Level B)
The APM Certificated Project Manager Qualification is for Senior Project Managers with more than five years experience of managing complex projects.
The Certificated Project Manager will be able to manage complex multi-disciplinary projects with significant interfaces both within their organisation and with external suppliers and stakeholders. You will also be added to the APM list of Certificated Project Managers, made available internationally through the International Project Management Association (IPMA ‘Level B’).
The qualification will provided significant value by demonstrating your ability to manage and successfully deliver any complex project. For employers, this benchmark certification provides confidence of successful candidates’ ability to apply best practice in a complex project environment.
Support Package Structure20|20 provides a comprehensive support package to work closely with the applicant throughout the three stage APM certification process. This includes:
Stage 1 – Submission of application: 20|20 provides practical assistance with the completion of application forms, self-assessment forms, curriculum vitae and a suitable project précis.
Stage 2 – Completion of a 5000 word project report: For your chosen project, which must have been completed within the last five years, you must be able to demonstrate that you have had a full-time, hands-on project management role, and that you were responsible for dealing with the risks and issues that arose. You should be able to provide evidence of your responsibility for the project budget and deploying & control of project resources. 20|20 will provide a report structure and feedback throughout the development of the report.
Stage 3 – Preparation for the interview: 20|20 will assist the candidate to consider interview strengths and weaknesses.
Prerequisites20|20 require candidates to have successfully achieved APM Professional (IPMA Level D) status before progressing to this APM Certificated Project Manager (IPMA Level B) assessment. It is not necessary to have undertaken the intermediate APM Practitioner (IPMA Level C) Assessment Centre.
Target AudienceCandidates must have gained extensive experience in the use of project management disciplines throughout their career and ideally managed several projects from start to finish. Experience of the complete project lifecycle is required although this could have been gained working on different projects. You must be capable of managing complex projects with the following characteristics:
~Involvement of several companies and/or organisational units
~Involvement of several disciplines e.g. technical, business, financial
~Interrelated sub-projects or work packages within the overall project context
~Requiring the application of many of the recognised project management competencies incorporated in the APM
Certification
Successful candidates will be awarded the Association for Project Management (APM)’s APM Certificated Project Manager qualification. This is recognised internationally in 45 countries through the International Project Management Association (IPMA) as the IPMA Level B qualification.
